On Aug. 9–10, record rainfall inundated Milwaukee, Wisconsin, causing local rivers and waterways to swell. Experts are calling the event a 1,000-year flood, which damaged hundreds of homes and buildings across the city.
Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains are ministering to Milwaukee families by offering emotional and spiritual support to those who lost homes and possessions overnight.
Prior to the disaster, the city had received 20 inches of rain so far this year, an amount that nearly doubled over a weekend.
“Across the U.S., we have seen a tragic string of natural disasters. … In Milwaukee, residents were the latest to witness the devastating effects of historic storms and the power that floodwaters can have,” said Josh Holland, international director of BG-RRT.
“At a time when all hope seems lost, we will let them know true hope can be found through Jesus Christ.”
Please pray for people in this community who are overwhelmed in the aftermath of this storm. Ask God to bring them comfort and peace as they move forward.
