In 2023, the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove hosted its first Spanish seminar. This July, Spanish-speaking church leaders are invited to participate in a seminar based on leadership principles from Paul’s epistle to the Philippians.

Later this month, the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove will host its third Spanish seminar to encourage Hispanic church leaders and pastors in their ministry.

Do you have Spanish-speaking friends? Tell them about this upcoming leadership seminar July 25–27.

The seminar is part of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s Hispanic Ministries, which equips and encourages Spanish-speaking churches in the United States to have a greater evangelistic impact in their communities.

“We want to strengthen the Hispanic church so that congregation members would also go out and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” said Joe Mott, senior director of Hispanic Ministries.

Argentinian pastor and author Lucas Leys and Mexican pastor and worship leader Fermín IV will lead the seminar.

Leys is a renowned speaker on Christian leadership and has written many books on discipleship. He founded an organization to help equip the next generation of Hispanic believers in living and sharing their faith.

Fermín IV has an incredible testimony as a Latin Grammy-winning rapper who had a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. Fermín now pastors one of the largest churches in Mexico, known for following a verse-by-verse teaching model.

“When we approached leaders from various denominations and asked them what the Hispanic church needs, one of the responses we received most often was Biblical training, especially for church leaders,” shared Mott. “This seminar seeks to respond to that need.”

This year, The Cove is extending an invitation to Hispanic pastors affected by Hurricane Helene—free of charge.

“We know that these pastors went through many trials because of the hurricane,” said Mott. “Not only were their churches damaged or destroyed, but so were their homes, and their families were affected. As a ministry, we want to invest in pastors and help them.”

Carlos Ortiz, lead pastor of the Spanish-speaking congregation of Biltmore Church in Asheville, North Carolina, saw the hurricane’s impact on his neighbors. His church, alongside the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse, helped respond to those in need.

“After all the help we received during Hurricane Helene, it was amazing to see that they sought us out again, telling us they would bring this great seminar,” he said.

Ortiz is eager to watch how God will work through this event to strengthen Hispanic churches in the mountains of North Carolina.

“We pastors need this training, but we don’t have the resources to organize these events ourselves, and often pastors can’t afford to travel to conferences,” said Ortiz.

The three-day seminar will offer practical wisdom for daily ministry, quiet time to seek the Lord, and opportunities to encourage one another—all within this peaceful mountain retreat.

“Casting vision and equipping pastors and leaders is where we start,” said Mott. “Then we want to partner with them to train their churches in areas like evangelism, discipleship, helping in Jesus’ name, and sharing hope in times of crisis. We want to help the Hispanic church as they make a Gospel impact across this country.”
