The past week was filled with heartache for residents in the South and Midwest who were in the path of tornadoes, flash floods, heavy winds, and torrential rain.
Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains are ministering in the area to offer emotional and spiritual care to the hurting.
“We have deployed teams to McNairy County, Tennessee, after a powerful EF-3 tornado with 160 mph winds tore through the area on Thursday,” Franklin Graham said.
“Tragically, just in this county, five people were killed and more than 100 homes and structures were destroyed with hundreds more damaged. May God comfort the families who lost loved ones and all those who have been impacted by these severe storms and flooding.”
In addition to the five who lost their lives in Tennessee, the storm system killed at least 16 other people in nearby states.
“The loss of life and property we are seeing out of Tennessee is devastating. The community is trying to process the damage and pick up the pieces left behind by the storm,” said Josh Holland, international director of BG-RRT. “We want those in McNairy County to know they aren’t alone during this dark and difficult time.”
Please pray for residents and first responders who are dealing with grief and shock as they process the pain and trauma of the past week.
